Carvedilol
is non-selective alpha and beta-adrenergic antagonist with antioxydative
properties. We observed 100 patients with dilatative ischaemic
cardiomyopathia, rhythm disturbances and heart failure in last
5 years. Patients were analyzed before and after treatment with
Carvedilol by gender, age, NYHA class and rhythm disturbances,
radiological, echocardiography, clinical parameters and mortality.
We found that Carvedilol improved NYHA class in majority of patients
and also improved hemodinamic, EF LV. Important role of Carvedilol
is conversion of heart rhythm when it was combined with diuretics,
cardiotonics and antiarrhythmics (especially in atrial fibrillation
and undulation) which are frequent in those patients. We didn't
notice significant side effects of this medication in our patients.
Carvedilol significantly improve systolic dysfunction in all observed
groups of patients in different grade and significantly improve
myocardial tonisation with x-ray signs of smaller heart contour.
Keywords: carvedilol, systolic function, atrial fibrillation,
dilatative cardiomyopathia.
